Lead the team in control system design and architecture for embedded controllers in proof of concept powertrains and vehicles.
Support the section by preparing proposals, managing project efforts, writing reports and publishing peer-reviewed papers. Feed your passion for bringing ideas to life while working amongst dozens of world class test cells to research and develop solutions to industry challenges. Interface directly with the worlds leading transportation companies including
vehicle OEM's and major component suppliers. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Perform as a systems engineer over automotive powertrains. Develop software solutions for control and diagnostics of engines, aftertreatment, and electric machines for integration in test cells, HIL stands, or vehicles.
Meet with internal and external customers to establish system technical requirements and facilitate development of specification documents and system architectures. Work with stakeholders to allocate functions to components/systems and develop those allocations into requirements for the engineers, designers, and managers to design, develop, integrate and test. Support software revision control
and tracking. Maintain and expand library of software features available for customers.
Document processes developed during system integration tasks such as functional requirements, FMEA, interface diagrams, and monitors and diagnostics. Requirements: Requires a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related Engineering degree. Those with an advanced degree may have fewer years of related industry work experience. 5-8 years: (Masters requires 4 years Ph D requires 3 years) of Experience in Matlab/ Simulink for software development, CAN and vehicle controller development and debugging; Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, UDP, TCP/IP, SENT etc.
Code development for d SPACE, Mototron, Dana Open ECU or similar controllers. 5-8 years: Experience in one of more of the following for powertrain systems: System or design FMEA, FTA, hazard analysis, functional safety and technical safety concepts, ASIL. 0-8 years: System optimization and development for automotive or commercial vehicle powertrains, aftertreatment systems, or electrified powertrains.
