About the role The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development and testing of all aspects of mechanical components, systems and equipment including new and existing products.
Working under immediate supervision the incumbent has knowledge and experience working with mechanical design concepts, manufacturing techniques and materials. Responsibilities Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research
programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation
processes Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests Maintains product and company reputation by complying with corporate, industry and government regulations Maintains system and product data base by writing computer programs and entering data Completes projects by training and guiding technicians Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Additional duties as assigned Qualifications Knowledge of drafting terminology and symbols Solution oriented and thinks creatively to design and develop mechanical components, systems, and equipment Ability to work in a team environment and independently Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power Point Experience with 3D CAD (preferable in Solid Works) , product design Plastics, sheet metal and cast parts are desireable Education & Experience Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering required Experience with mechanical design concepts and the manufacturing of consumer products, utilizing high volume automated manufacturing processes as well as manual assembly Experience with design, prototyping, and evaluation of material selection Minimum of 3+ years' experience in mechanical design.

Job Purpose This position will support the growing need for geospatial expertise in the Gas Asset Management & Engineering organization by providing various outputs in the ESRI Arc GIS Pro solution. These outputs will support National
Grid's safety and risk management goals by better geospatially representing and understanding our gas assets like transmission pipelines, regulator/take stations, and gas distribution network.
Key Accountabilities Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Analyze and align geospatial data in Arc GIS Pro to provide meaningful and accurate business results. Create, update, refresh, and publish various Landbase data sets for use by Gas Asset Management. Use ESRI APR Tools to create, modify, retire our Transmission Linear Network based on mapping changes. Use ESRI Event Editor Tools to create, modify, retire asset data related to the Linear Network. Present analysis, findings,
and outputs to technical and business process stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with a background in technology, management, computer systems, or Management Information Systems.
Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) required. Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification preferred. Knowledge of gas utility assets and integrity management strongly preferred. Experience with Business/Data Intelligence software (Power BI, Alteryx, Python, Excel) strongly preferred. Experience with ESRI APR Tools strongly preferred. Valid driver's license required.
