Are you a distributed systems authority passionate about building large-scale database technologies supporting steadfast growth and innovation? We are looking for experienced Core Database Internal Engineers with a strong database internals background to work in a team responsible for architecting, developing, and testing
the next generation of cloud-native databases. You will join a team of world-class, highly motivated software engineers and database experts. You will craft and develop robust and highly scalable software products to support the staggering growth of Salesforce.
You will need familiarity with database internals, mainly in query processing, with an interest in query optimizer, outstanding software engineering skills, and relish the opportunity to work on very sophisticated, highly concurrent, highly scalable, and resilient systems. You must have a proven track record of success where you demonstrated end-to-end ownership of the architecture, design, implementation, monitoring, testing,
and product support on large, critically important systems at a petabyte scale.
Areas where you may be working include database management systems, particularly query processing, focusing on query optimization and query execution technology, advances in SQL optimization, materialized views, database analytics, distributed systems, and parallel query processing. The right candidate should also have a solid understanding in database transaction processing and concurrency control. We work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, agile environment. We are a hybrid team that values end-to-end service ownership, from conception to architecture, design to implementation, testing to deployment, to customer engagement and service.
Responsibilities: Accountable for the overall technical quality of the solutions and provide feedback to the Engineering leadership team. Participate in requirements reviews, architecture and design reviews, and test plan reviews for the Engineering teams in the organizations that you support. Do hands-on code and design reviews for some projects, including hands-on coding, and continue to be an encouraging resource for projects after completion. Are accountable for ensuring that issues are permanently resolved in a way that multiple teams can demonstrate to avoid the problem from reoccurring.
Follow up on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) takeaways and ensure that teams understand how to avoid similar situations in the future. Demonstrate a consistent track record of working with Engineering leaders to complete projects that are impactful to our internal and external customers. Help make data-driven decisions that select the right strategy for the organization. Explore groundbreaking technologies, design patterns, and Engineering Best Practices, and coach other Architects on their application. Qualifications: BS or higher degree in Computer Science MS or Ph D in databases or distributed systems is a plus Strong CS fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems demonstrated ability in system or database internals programming proven experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems An innovator with good ideas, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and a results-oriented attitude.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $280,700 to $449,700.
