About the role This position is responsible for developing and maintaining electrical systems and programming necessary for the operation of equipment and machinery used in manufacturing; including documenting, developing, implementing and sustaining equipment and machines for the production, validation and inspection of product.
This position works under minimal supervision and may provide supervision to a team of direct reports. Responsibilities Design electrical
systems for equipment and machines under the direction of a senior automation engineer or manager to support manufacturing Develop programs to control PLCs, HMIs, actuators, servos, motion controllers, and vision systems Document programs and electrical systems of equipment and machines using appropriate programs in accordance with safety requirements and quality system procedures Specify and order electrical components needed to support the operation of equipment Debug, troubleshoot and repair equipment and machinery in support of production, quality and design engineering groups Assemble, wire, program, install and debug equipment purchased or developed internally Document operating manuals
for equipment and machines developed internally or purchased Provide guidance, leadership, and supervision to a team of controls technicians Additional duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree 2 years minimum relevant experience including the development and maintenance of machines and equipment used in manufacturing and should include experience in programming PLCs, HMIs, and process controls Supervisory experience is preferred Skills and Abilities Ability to have a basic understanding of mechanical equipment and processes Ability to develop machine programs and documentation using machine programming languages.
This includes programming PLCs, robots, actuators, servos, and vision systems Ability to develop machine and equipment electrical specifications including electrical schematics and wiring guidelines Ability to complete the assembly and wiring of machines to specifications and manage other resources to complete similar work Ability to organize documentation and work such that it is understandable by peers and can be used in debug and trouble shooting Ability to assign tasks in an orderly manner and ensure completion by controls technicians Ability to debug and troubleshoot equipment for electrical and minor mechanical problems.
This requires a basic understanding of the mechanical functions of the machines so that the source of the issue can be identified Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power Point at an intermediate level Ability to document programs and schematics using computer programs such as CAD or Visio Ability to organize programming and machine functions into a flow chart Ability to integrate multiple pieces of equipment or stations into a system Ability to problem solve and manage multiple priorities on a daily basis Travel Less than 5% travel Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to fill a Staff Systems Engineer role in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to lead the Mission Processing Element which is a software development team to support a new Ground program. This position can be filled at Morrisville, NC, Fairfax, VA or Linthicum, MD.
What you'll get to do: As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will lead a large team of teams of engineers to develop, test, and deploy a software system. You will also verify and validate requirements for a Ground Segment. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission, ensuring everything is synchronized. We have multiple Systems Engineering positions across the Ground program, on contract to deliver the ground segment for a restricted space program.
This work will span command and control, mission planning and scheduling, mission processing, and system infrastructure. We have anticipated future growth to deliver additional ground capabilities. The successful candidate will have broad Systems Engineering lifecycle knowledge, with the ability to manage changes and present options for managing scope and dependencies to the technical and management teams in concise briefings. The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment and to be highly self-motivated.
The ideal candidate is a leader who is experienced leading other Integrated Product Team (IPT) leads and who excels in keeping the program management and the customer informed.
