Be a proactive participant in the Field Support Team (FST), working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and the other Engineering disciplines. Play an integral role in unit troubleshooting, taking the lead when necessary to facilitate problem resolution
when a problem is encountered. Identify opportunities to improve unit safety, environmental performance, reliability, and profitability and prioritize and develop these opportunities through site work process.
Participate as necessary in unit PHAs, Bow Ties, and Corrosion Control Document Reviews and lead specific Management of Change reviews. Keep Tech and Ops Management apprised of problematic unit conditions and issues. Utilize Risk-Based Decision-Making skills in prioritizing work and communicating incentives and constraints to Management and to the FST. Maintain a Process Engineering Proactive Monitoring Workbook for each process area of responsibility and proactive monitoring of
variables, trends, tools, and overall unit proactive monitoring plan to facilitate the performance of the Ensure Safe Production process.
Support training of operations on heat and material balances, control of separation processes, and other unit operations. Participate in and/or Facilitate root cause investigations. Expected to support abnormal situations and turnarounds which may require nights and extended durations within fatigue management plans for a 24x7 facility. Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion Experience A minimum of five years of progressive work experience in a process engineering discipline.
An understanding of basic refinery processes, utility systems and the elements of process safety. Preferred Experience Refinery or petrochemical industry experience with direct support to operations. Some or all of Alky, Crude Distillation, Delayed Coking, Hydrotreating, FCC, Sulfur Conversion, Utilities and Waste Water experience. Experience with Energy, CO2, and Water reduction initiatives is also desirable. Education Level A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline is required. Required Skills Working knowledge of engineering concepts and ability to apply this knowledge analytically.
Ability to communicate effectively with others, strong verbal communication skills, and ability to simplify large amounts of data into compelling recommendations and visuals.
