Job Summary The Instructional Technologist will support the Distance Learning Department and contribute to production and development of courses. The position is responsible for assisting
in the systematic design, development, evaluation, and backssment of online and hybrid instruction that is both pedagogically and visually sound. This position supports all faculty members utilizing the university's learning management system through the application of effective course design principles, integration of technology and third-party applications into the LMS including publisher packs, testing components, and Web 2.0 resources, compliance with accessibility and universal design principals, and Quality Matters standards.
The Instructional Technologist will demonstrate an ongoing involvement and knowledge of current trends in distance learning technologies and course development
tools. This position requires the ability to critically think through processes and procedures, to problem solve in innovative and creative ways, to perform basic software installation and troubleshooting procedures, and to integrate the use of technological resources with sound distance learning theory to promote learning.
Instructional Technologist position assists students signing up for other available low-cost internet access programs and device subsidies. Works with students to provide technology support and training. Manages and administers broadband equipment and subsidy program. Inventories existing devices and distribution of devices, hardware, and software to low-income students.
Solicits student feedback on technical support system. This position is responsible for the direct communication, quality assurance, technical services, and technology logistics for all site locations. Assists with the backssment and implementation of efforts to expand student access to the internet. Creates and maintains contacts with site locations, analyzes requirements and service quality, problem solves any relevant issues, responds in a timely manner to service issues/requests, provides technical support and conducts site visits as needed. The IT Coordinator assists with recruitment, development, and training of site locations and coordinates meetings, site visits, conference calls and training with all site locations.
Provides updates on implementation, progress, and challenges to the Project Director. The IT Coordinator assists in data retention by collecting attendance and administering and collecting surveys and other relevant data from site locations. Is responsible for installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners and monitors and maintains computer systems and networks. Responsibilities Specific duties of the position include: Assist with the review, coordination and adoption of new technologies used in the promotion of effective learning in the online learning environments Assist with the integration of technology into online course content within the learning management system including publisher packs, testing components, OER, and Web 2.0 resources Assist with the creation and update of online learning templates for the learning management system Assist with the creation of web-based and print faculty and student training guides covering topics from technology to pedagogy to study skills Assist in the implementation of video productions in the learning management system Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accessibility and universal design principles in the learning management system Assist with the pre-term course checks for online courses Assist with faculty training in the use of the learning management system components Required Qualifications Bachelor degree or equivalent in Instructional Technology, or related field 2 years' experience in instructional technology, preferably in higher education.
Knowledge of assistive technologies and accessibility guidelines Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and stay current in a rapidly changing field Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or equivalent in Instructional Technology Proposed Salary Salary range is from $37,000 to $55,000.
