Maintains an accurate and up-to-date record of all missed lessons and dates of make-up lessons (when appropriate) and reports any additions or drops to the Director of the PCMP Prepares written Progress Reports to parents at the end of Fall and Spring terms by an established date Maintains files for each student Attends all staff meetings Advises the Director of any student/parent problems that require the Director's input Consults with the Director prior to making a recommendation that a student discontinue lessons or before placing a student on probation Assists with the department recitals and examinations as needed, and attends all department recitals unless these are in conflict with a teaching

schedule.

Schedules all students (non-adult) to appear on at least one department recital during the year Prepares all students with more than one year's enrollment in the program for yearly examinations Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) Skill Sets: Ability to perform at a high standard piano works at a minimum level of sophistication on par with the Mozart Sonatas, or the equivalent in another style or genre Ability to teach elementary through advanced students in group and private settings, in-person and online Ability to serve as a positive, nurturing role

model for pre-college students, while simultaneously providing them with challenging work and holding them to a high standard Skilled in interacting with the parents of pre-college students in a confident, professional manner Familiarity with contemporary approaches to piano pedagogy and is conversant in most of the leading methods Expertise in the use of the Music Tree method, or willingness to learn and adopt the Music Tree method Understanding of how to pace material and manage student performance ability so that students are completely and confidently prepared for exams and performances Comfortable with working with Word- and Excel-type documents, and sharing such documents, in a paperless, electronic format Exhibited service mentality toward all stakeholders All communication with stakeholders is effective, professional, accurate, and timely Improves work performance and that of others by being receptive to and appropriately sharing information Minimum Experience Required: College-level pedagogy courses or the professional equivalent required MTNA membership or involvement strongly preferred MTNA Certification preferred Five or more years of teaching experience strongly preferred Five years of teaching using Music Tree materials preferred Education Requirements: Undergraduate degree in music or with music emphasis required Graduate work in music highly desirable Compensation and Benefits: Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
