As a part of the Vet Cadets teaching team, this role directly helps the Veterinary professionals with a passion for teaching and fostering a safe learning environment for their children. Preschool teachers help support a child's personal, academic, and social progress during a crucial stage of brain development. On a daily basis our childcare teaching team is given the opportunity to embrace one of the organization's core values, education.

This role is to shape early learner's education experience and continue seeking passion for teaching young children new skills.

The Preschool Lead Teacher will work directly with the children in the classroom, and interact with parents daily at drop off and pick up to provide updates and discuss any concerns related to the child. Essential Functions: The ability to monitor and respond to events going on at all times in the classroom and outdoor play areas. Daily opening and closing tasks include disinfecting toys, stacking and cleaning furniture/sleep areas as needed, relocating items and toys back to their storage area Implement developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans for preschool aged children in an early childhood setting.

Create a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes learning and growth. Provide individualized attention and support to all children and foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in young children. The use of effective classroom management techniques to create a positive and safe learning environment for children ages 3-6. Maintain accurate records of each child's progress and development. Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, indoor or outdoor games, drawing, etc) to enhance the child's abilities.

Teaching preschoolers appropriate behaviors, modeling safe behavior, and encouraging life skills such as tying their shoes, using the restroom, and cleaning up after themselves when transitioning from one activity to the next. Other Other duties as assigned Education & Experience (Must possess one of the following): Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) from college or university with a major in: Early childhood education, Child development, Elementary education, and/ or Special education OR Associate's Degree (AS/AA) from a college with a major in Early childhood education, Child development or Related degree OR Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in: Early childhood education, Child development, Elementary education, Special education and At least one year of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of: Preschool-age children.

OR One year state or nationally recognized credential: Related to preschool-age care OR At least two years of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of Preschool-age children.

OR Documentation of attaining at least step 6 in the Oregon Registry Knowledge, skills, and abilities and/ or competencies: Demonstrating and participating in curriculum planning which targets child development growth. Creating a classroom environment that is inviting and nurturing, and positive engagement with families when visiting the center or picking up their child. Practicing and teaching social and emotional skills with children with the goal of supporting their kindergarten readiness.

A positive attitude, patience, and flexibility for unforeseen circumstances in the classroom. Ability to spend scheduled durations of time outside regardless of the weather to supervise outdoor play. Maintain a happy, collaborative and positive attitude under stressful situations Developmentally appropriate curriculum implementation for preschool aged children is required Monitoring and backssing children's progress, providing feedback to parents/guardians. Knowledge of early childhood development Physical demands: Lift and carry up to 40 lbs, such as activity materials, snack foods, and furniture.

Sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces. Stand and be mobile for over 75% of the work period. This position requires frequent bending, crouching, and sitting on the floor. Conditions include environmental (hot/cold, inside/outside, noise level, lighting, ventilation, etc. ) and social (works with the public, works under deadlines, works alone, etc. ) Working in the classroom includes exposure to playful and noisy environments when children are not at rest.
