The primary responsibility of the Tutor is to support the SSC¿s mission to collaborate with campus partners to increase and motivate student learning by utilizing best practices to help them achieve their academic potential.
In this role, Tutors must have excellent communication skills and the ability to adjust his or her tutoring strategies to meet the needs of the students. You typically meet with a student in a one-on-one tutoring session. In this job, you assist students with projects also in learning essential course concepts. Peer tutors motivate their students and inspire
them to study and improve their academic knowledge. You will develop, create and implement success study strategies and resources based on a student¿s needs. Peer Tutors working in the SSC may be asked to assist with additional tasks to support various academic events at the request of his/her supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS · Attend Mandatory tutor training within the first week of employment. · Current student at Gordon State College enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours. · Minimum 3.0 GPA with at least a 3.0 in the course(s) you wish to tutor. · Have earned at least 20 credit hours at Gordon State College. · Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills. · A current Faculty recommendation
letter in the subject you wish to tutor. The Faculty recommendation letter can be emailed to is 15.00 per hour.
