(with or without accommodations under ADA). Provide education and technical assistance to prospective employers on the benefits of employing workers with diverse abilities. Analyze job tasks and the potential for work modifications, and match individuals to appropriate job assignments.
Use creative outside the box strategies to help supported individuals achieve successful outcomes. Ensure the health and safety of workers. Learn how to perform various jobs at employment sites to demonstrate and work with individuals during initial on-the-job training to coach performance. Provide on-site support and encouragement and advocate for individual as needed. Observe the Worksite's culture and
assist the worker in building social bonds with supervisors and co-workers for integration. Communicate verbally and in writing with program managers, job developers, support staff, employers, funding sources and other advocates to ensure a clear understanding of worker's progress and continued support, as needed.
Manage a caseload of 15-20 individuals and write and submit timely progress reports. Act as liaison with key community stakeholders, including service coordinator, vocational rehabilitation counselor, home support system/guardian to support work attendance. Assist individuals with job preparation activities such as resumes, cover letters, mock interviews, and utilizing public
transportation. Provide Discovery/Career Exploration services in the community and develop a vocational profile which provides employment-related information essential to the development of the individual's career goals.
Keep apprised of general labor market trends, including health and safety considerations. Ensure all required documentation is complete, timely, accurate and representative of a professional organization. Follow licensing regulations, agency policies and practices and assure protection of individual rights and safety. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Chief Program Officer Requirements: Employment Consultant Qualifications: Associate degree in special education, psychology, or related field or four years of experience in a vocationally oriented rehabilitation agency training adults with disabilities, particularly in vocational skills training.
Travel is required from work site to work site, to/from Exceed, Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Health Services, and other off-site locations. Must have a reliable vehicle available for work and provide proof of insurance. Must have a valid Oregon/Washington driver's license, safe driving record, and be approved by Exceed's insurance carrier. Must be willing to work flexible hours to assist workers with a disability in integrating into a new work environment.
