The person who occupies this position is responsible for unloading cases from conveyors and stacking them onto pallets according to carton specifications. The following is a list of specific duties which are considered the essential functions of this job. The list is not exhaustive, as all positions at the company are dynamic. The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list.
Retrieves packed cases from conveyors and stacks them onto pallets according to customer specifications.
This duty is performed throughout the work shift. Palletizer wraps top of loaded pallet to prevent higher boxes from falling when load is moved. Pulls loaded skid with handtruck to area where skid is retrieved by forklift (approximately 70 ft. ). Constructs cardboard tops to cover boxes that do not have folding flaps. Required Skills Physical and visual activities that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job: Standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs. ), carrying (up to 50 lbs. ), pushing, pulling, twisting (re-piling loads), kneeling, bending, reaching, talking, hearing, visual acuity (near and far) Physical demands commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job: Function 1 requires lifting packed cases (weighing up to 50 lbs.
) from the rollers (3 feet high), carrying them approximately 5 feet to pallet and stacking them onto correct pallet. Cases are stacked as high as 7 feet. Job requires lifting empty pallets (approximately 50 lbs. ) from stack of pallets and sliding them to end of conveyor approximately once very hour. Requires physical ability to pull full pallet (1500 - 2000 lbs. ) with handtruck.
The distance of pulling is approximately 30 feet. Inside Conditions, extremes of heat, humidity, noise (helpers are to wear ear plugs), vibration, hazards, dust. Must be able to speak, read and write English. No experience needed (entry-level). Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software: Handtruck and tape (to construct box covers). Must be flexible: Able to work other shifts, overtime and Saturdays when needed. High School diploma or GED required.
