Northrop Grumman Defense Services has an opening for a Manager Aircraft Maintenance 1 in San Antonio, Texas. Essential Functions: Provide pro-active leadership managing the daily operations of a team. Will work in concert with
NGDS site manager and management of primary vendor; this will include assi gnment of work schedules to ensure efficiencies of day-to-day workflow.
Responsibilities include cost, schedule, and technical performance of the San Antonio based " touch labor" team in support of the F/A-18 E/F SLM Program. This position will have broad responsibility for numerous aspects of Program performance on a Time and Material contract. Managerial responsibility for the successful execution of this Program, to include cost and schedule objectives, while delivering a Quality product. Will be tasked to recruit qualified candidates to support growth as the Program matures.
Will assist in team building, interviews, making hiring recommendations, and onboarding of new hire employees. Ensure that the team remains in full compliance with all Policies and Procedures; especially as it relates to Safety, FOD and Tool Control Maintain compliance with CATS/SAP and customer ETS timekeeping systems and perform weekly reconciliations between the two systems to ensure the appropriate job charging. Managerial responsibility for reporting/delivering regular performance reviews of assigned team. Provide accurate Manpower backssments to enable timely and accurate Financial Forecasting.
Develop opportunities with the Customer to expand the Work Share allocation. Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalate. Aility to maintain Final Secret Clearance. Strong technical experience with heavy depot level maintenance/service life extension of Navy F/A -18 military aircraft or similar fighter platforms. Current/Prior supervisory experience (minimum 2 years), with responsibility for team oversight and execution. Extremely customer-focused with strong verbal and written communication skills. Clear understanding of fatigue critical issues on mature fighter type aircraft (must have worked with Engineering in this area).
Disassembly and evaluation of major aircraft structural components and associated systems (must have supported work on fracture critical structures, landing gear, fuel cell areas, systems etc. ). Common knowledge of Close tolerance hole inspections/drilling (prerequisite). Be able to interpret engineering dispositions and execute required tasking. Certified past or present ability to inspect work performed by other mechanics. Common knowledge of depot level tear down/buildup of F/A -18 airframe and associated flight controls and components.
Common knowledge depot level fuel systems maintenance and inspection on F/A -18 military aircraft. Common knowledge of launch/recovery flight operations for F/A -18 military aircraft. Understanding of Navy IETM's (Interactive Electronic Technical Manual). Preferred Qualifications: FAA Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P). Fighter Aircraft Depot Maintenance Experience on F/A - 18, F-16, F-22, F-15, or F-35. Salary Range: $95,000 - $118,000The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
