in eighteen states. GENERAL FUNCTION: The Water Operator will report to the Water Plant Supervisor. The Water Operator will be responsible for various activities in support of the water treatment plant and storage. The Water Operator performs manual labor and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, operation, repair, and construction of the treatment plant and storage.
Duties are performed under the direct supervision of the Water Plant Supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists with the O&M of the facilities Monitors equipment, meters, gauges, and document readings Ensures all samplers, and meters are working properly and accurately Cleans and maintains tools, sampling equipment and lab
equipment. Assists in keeping site and grounds at plants clean and neat. Performs daily equipment checks. Responds to emergency calls at all hours. Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures and operates equipment safely.
Reports any unsafe work condition or practice to supervisor. Performs other related and non-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics: Knowledge of TCEQ rules, water treatment, mechanical equipment such as pumps, drives, blowers, motors and standard construction materials used in the water facilities and systems. Ability to follow oral instructions promptly and accurately Ability to perform strenuous
physical labor Ability to work as an effective team member Ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools. Bilingual abilities are a plus MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY: A valid Driver's license; High school Graduate or GED Valid Class C or better Surface Water license. Prior work experience in a mechanical or laboratory setting highly desirable. Compensation and Benefits: Pay is commensurate with experience and market-reflective.
