Position Summary Operates the Batch Blender processing equipment to meet customer specifications. Responsible for loading the blending system, adding the proper chemical treatment, and packaging the finished product.
Must be able to work 12-hour night shift. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Operator is responsible for maintaining compliance with the Mandatory Minimum Standards Required (MMSRs) within his/her sphere of influence. This may include compliance with any air permits, waste water permits, storm water permits, or other rules
as presented to the employee as requirements. Responsible for bringing all EH&S incidents or concerns to management for resolution. Equipment Operation · Must understand the operation of process equipment.
· Repair and replace rotating screens. · Ensure material is processed according to operating procedures and specifications. · Provide inventory control assistance and proper handling/storage of treatment chemicals. · Assist the maintenance electrician in minor mechanical repairs as needed (i. e. change dust collector bags, repair or replace airvey lines, remove and replace airlock rotors, clean or replace filters. ) · Collect product samples during equipment operation. · Ability to
learn the basics of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and to use the concepts while operating the equipment.
· Identify problems with equipment and properly communicate them to appropriate personnel. Loading and Unloading Materials · Must be able to operate packaging equipment to fill approximately 50 lb. Bags and make necessary weight adjustments to produce accurate bag weights. · Place required product designation or codes on bags per customer specifications. · Weigh finished product pallets and record weight on weight sheets. · Stretch wrap pallets and store in warehouse. · Maintain bulk inventory. · Operate bulk transfer and load out system Quality · Collect product samples during equipment operation and make operating adjustments as necessary to ensure quality product that meets customer specifications.
· Conduct water floatability test. · Conduct water chemistry testing on boiler. Process Clean-up of Equipment · Disassemble process equipment as required to brush out or air sweep clean of product residue. Equipment includes: vacuum receivers, baghouses, airlocks, blender, packaging equipment, and hoppers. · Collect all cleanout product into proper container for disposition. · Daily emissions inventory report – GA EPD Air Compliance Program.
Become familiar with the Environmental Management System, policy and procedures. Also the potential consequences of departure from specified operating procedures. Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the plant. · Performs other duties as assigned/required. · Ability to act and work in a safe and healthy manner.
PPE requirements include hard hat, safety glasses and steel toed shoes. Ear plugs are required as posted in the facility. · Must be capable of completing First Responder training (which includes: First Aid, CPR, AED, Blood borne pathogens). · Ability to drive a fork truck in a safe and efficient manner. · Ability to perform basic mathematical computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percent calculations, etc. ). · Good overall verbal and written communication skills with employees at all levels in the organization and customers. · Basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse, boot, reboot, and shut down system, etc.
). Must be able to use the computer to routinely check business e-mail and complete online Safety Training as assigned. Physical Requirements · Accessing elevated locations by ladders, and stairs, etc (up and down multiple times per shift) as well as getting off and on forklift. · Capability of lifting 55 lb. Bags multiple times per shift. · Working with silane chemicals. · Managing multiple priorities at one time in a safe and efficient manner. · Works inside and occasionally outside. Works in a noisy, wet, dirty environment exposed to ambient conditions.
