Qualifications: Required/Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years software industry experience, including developing commercial software, compilers, scientific computing applications, or multi-component systems OR Master's

Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years software industry experience, including developing commercial software, compilers, scientific computing applications, or multi-component systems OR Doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years software industry experience, including developing commercial software, compilers, scientific computing applications, or multi-component systems OR equivalent experience.

4+ years programming experience with proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language relevant to scientific computing, such as C/C++/C#/Python. 6+ years in a collaborative software development environment.

Experience with using cloud-based services (Azure or similar) to build highly scalable performance aware systems. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Additional or Preferred Qualifications Computer Science, Computer Engineering degree or equivalent experience.

End to end deployment of HPC infrastructure in Azure. Familiarity with HPC (High Performance Computing) solutions in Azure or other hyperscalers. Hands-on Linux experience - systems administration and troubleshooting. Knowledge of scheduler systems (e. g. Slurm). Experience with containerization/deploying applications and microservices. Experience with open-source software development. Self-motivated with an ability to succeed in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment. Detail oriented design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Quantum Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U. S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year. Benefits/perks listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Microsoft and the country where you work. #Quantum Responsibilities: This role, as part of the Azure Quantum Elements team, will create Azure services that are designed to cater for demanding HPC (High Performance Computing) workloads (think classical supercomputer scale). These services will blend traditional HPC solutions with Quantum accelerators (both third party and first party hardware).

The candidate for this position is agile and able to adapt to changing conditions and expanding priorities as we learn and grow. Such a candidate has proficient communication and cross-team collaboration skills. Deploy and co-design high-performance computing infrastructure solutions for computational chemistry and materials science workloads on Azure. End to end deployment of HPC infrastructure in Azure. Communicate with end users and platform engineers in a timely and professional manner. Monitor system event logs, determine cause of errors and troubleshoot them. Improve and optimize the infrastructure together with the team, based on learnings and customer requests.

Benchmark and tune performance of computational packages on Azure. Implement best practices for software development, build, test, and release processes. Create usage documentation along with matching examples. Create automated testing processes for the software implementations. Provide technical support to users worldwide for these s ystems.
