Salesforce Inc. seeks Senior Software Engineer (Cloud) in New York, NY: Job Duties : Contribute to Salesforce's knowledge of foreign operating conditions as a result of special knowledge not generally found in the industry. Architect and develop AWS cloud provisioning services capable of provisioning a fleet of tens
of thousand servers. This requires specialist knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) as well a deep knowledge of the Go programming language. Perform Incident Commander duties for the Slack application, including overseeing the resolution of incidents impacting service uptime, conducting post-mortems, and coordinating the implementation of fixes for issues which caused the incidents.
Respond to on-call alerts for the Cloud Compute team's large fleet of Kubernetes clusters and various other core cloud services whose uptime is key to the running of Slack. This involves after hours support responding to alerts and remediating systems in a timely manner so customers are not impacted. This
remediation process involves a deep understanding of technical skills such as distributed systems, cloud services, linux and go and can benefit from deep knowledge of the custom toolchain used at Salesforce/Slack.
Use specialized knowledge to steer the team's engineering best practices, including driving improvements around on-call onboarding, alert runbooks and software development lifecycle processes. Led software projects from start to finish, including defining scope when scope is otherwise unclear and providing architectural direction. Work extensively with stakeholders to share progress and risk backssments and to drive cross-functional projects across the engineering organization.
Direct coding, testing, deploying, scaling of various core Cloud systems. Develop and code cutting edge Kubernetes and VM solutions to deliver the best possible platform for engineering teams by leveraging containerization, virtualization, and AWS services. Educate other team members and provide ideas and tips on how to improve our overall platform efficiency and performance. Proactively build relationships with service owners. Write, enhance, and extend our infrastructure as code libraries and modules. Embed into development teams as needed to help educate and improve their service performance and efficiency to reduce cloud costs.
