As the Scan Operations Lead, you will be responsible for managing all vulnerability scanning operations across
our global environment of over 1 million assets using Qualys as our primary tool. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will lead a globally distributed team of engineers across onshore and offshore locations in ensuring smooth and effective vulnerability scanning.
You should have first-hand demonstratable knowledge of large and complex scan operations and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex scanning events. Lead daily vulnerability scanning operations, including configuring scans, monitoring scan executions, triaging scan issues, and ensuring overall scan coverage meets expectations Continuously improve vulnerability scanning operations through automation, scaling,
and optimization Manage scan backssment processes to validate coverage, risk exceptions, and procedural gaps Lead a globally distributed team of scan engineers across onshore and offshore locations Provide technical guidance and mentoring to offshore team members Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing between onshore and offshore scanning teams Conduct regular status checks and sync-ups with offshore team members Coordinate task assignment and capacity planning for onshore and offshore scanning resources Develop standards and playbooks for vulnerability scanning and remediation workflows Collaborate cross-functionally with security, development, and IT ops teams on scanning integration and improvement initiatives Track scan performance metrics and report on operational status to senior management Develop roadmaps for vulnerability scanning toolchain upgrades and migrations Work with security architects on vulnerability scanning integration and data flows Troubleshoot network and firewall-related issues impeding vulnerability scanning activity Work cross-functionally with networking and security operations teams to resolve scanning challenges related to network topology, access rules, etc.
Develop network diagrams and data flow documents to assist with triaging network-based scanning problems Configure scans and policies to properly authenticate into various environments leveraging credentials, keys, certificates, etc.
Triage and debug various authentication errors and issues affecting scan performance Create troubleshooting guides and playbooks for common network and authentication-related scanning challenges 8-10+ years of overall cybersecurity experience ~5+ years managing dynamic vulnerability scanning at scale in a large enterprise environment ~ Expert knowledge in industry-leading vulnerability scanning solutions Strong hands-on experience with configuring policies, troubleshooting scan issues, and optimizing scanning operations Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Power Shell, Bash, etc.
