What You'll Do The Sr Solutions Design Engineer is responsible for providing engineering, project management and analytical support to the Design Engineering department, Supply Chain Solutions, Business Development and other support responsibilities as requested.
They will support pre-sales initiatives by creating customized logistics solutions for Americold's customers. They will work with Business Development & Customers to conduct a detailed analysis of product profiles and warehousing requirements including resource modeling, layout planning, material flow planning and equipment definition. They will
work with Finance and Procurement to provide cost estimates for budgeting and proposals. They will support Project Management during implementation, as needed Essential Functions: Management of conventional & automated 3PL solution design process, leading discussions on pick faces, reserve pallet storage, dock doors, expansion square footage, yard changes, rack changes, etc.
Develop new designs of processes, facilities and retrofits in Auto CAD - both warehouse and site plans - including documentation to explain how a proposed solution meets the long term needs of our customer Modify existing layouts in Auto CAD to represent alterations for a customer's requirement (re-racking, temperature
changes, additional dock doors, etc. ), or internal process improvement Deliver discrete event simulation models to accurately predict capacity constraints, functionality, and aesthetically accurate representations of proposed designs Price estimate conceptual layouts to provide competitive proposals for customers or internal labor savings opportunities Research new technology and industry advancements in warehousing, logistics, cross docking and material handling to maintain a competitive edge #LI-REMOTE What Experience You Need Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Systems, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or similar At least 5 years of project-related design work in a 3PL or storage/retrieval environment (warehouse, distribution center, ecommerce, etc.
) At least 3 years of experience with Auto CAD software Excellent technical skills including a strong command of Word, Access, Power Point and Visio Requires up to 30% travel to visit sites, understand processes and gather requirements, possibility of some international travel What Could Set You Apart Solutions Design experience, developing end-to-end automated warehouse solutions in response to RFP/RFQs.
