Solution Architects are responsible and accountable for the solution architecture in partnership with enterprise architects, domain architects, and engineering teams. Solution Architects partner with the delivery team for solution planning, delivery, detailed design, and implemented solutions. Solution Architects play an integral role in defining and backssing the organization's security strategy, architecture, and practices. Solution Architects effectively translate business objectives and risk management strategies into specific security processes enabled by security technologies and services. Solution Architects anticipate potential threats and design systems to preempt them. Solution Architects plan, implement, and supervise computer and network security systems. ROLE Executes projects and initiatives on the domain roadmap in partnership with Enterprise Architects. Consults with application and infrastructure development projects, and identifies when it is necessary to modify projects to accommodate the solution architecture.
Identifies the organizational impact (skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions architecture. Creates non-functional specs for operational agility, disaster recovery, and support. Establishes solution delivery flow for continuous integration, testing and delivery, and operational deployment in partnership with project managers, solution leads, and other stakeholders. Conducts design reviews to validate alignment with architecture. Modifies solution architecture to support changing business or technology requirements.
Documents solutions architecture design and analysis work, and communicates architectural decisions that impact solutions. Defines the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision. Designs methodology that consistently yields the right level of technical design documentation, and develops technical solutions that conform both to customer requirements and information development standards. Adheres to Costco's Architectural Framework and Governance model. Determines security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements.
Creates comprehensive security requirements documenting certifications, compliance, and privacy requirements prior to product release. Identifies dependencies with Costco value streams and shared services based on enterprise security architectures. Plans security systems by evaluating technologies and developing requirements that adhere to industry best practices. Identifies and integrates essential safeguards and practices into the overall solution design of technology initiatives to deliver security requirements, documenting any residual risks.
Leads the design, development, and implementation of our cloud security strategy, aligning it with industry best practices and business objectives. Develops timelines for the adoption of strategic direction and new technologies in the cloud security space. Analyzes trends in cloud security architectures and patterns and provides strategic direction and recommendations. Ensures that appropriate personnel understand the strategic direction and architectural guidance related to cloud security. Advocates for governance models, frameworks, and process refinements specific to cloud security.
Collaborates in the creation of intellectual property, such as cloud security standards and key reference architectures. Serves as an internal senior trusted advisor, providing cloud-focused security consulting services to multiple project teams and IT leaders. Develops and implements cloud strategies to ensure secure access to cloud-based resources. Collaborates with a broad group of architects to ensure appropriate considerations are included in all aspects of Costco's cloud security strategy. Analyzes technical risks and advises on risk mitigation strategies. Works with the program managers, engineers, and functional/business analysts to develop high-level program schedules, resource plans, and costs.
Applies technical knowledge and customer insights to create a modernization roadmap. Provides strategic and architectural direction and guidance to enable architects and senior engineers to architect, design, and support cloud deployments and solutions. Collaborates with other architects in developing complex end-to-end enterprise solutions. Determines security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements. Creates comprehensive security requirements documenting certifications, compliance, and privacy requirements prior to product release.
Supports Costco's architecture ecosystem by working with Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architects, System Architects, and Platform Architects to ensure security by design. Collaborates with peer architects at various levels and helps drive solutions. Reviews current security strategies, architecture, and roadmaps for alignment with applicable industry best practices and implementing, evangelizing, and supporting updates. Develops timelines for adoption of strategic direction. Analyzes current trends in technology architecture and provides recommendations.
Determines the viability of architecture related to organizational requirements. Evangelizes governance models, frameworks, and process refinements. Mentors and trains members of the cloud security team, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development. REQUIRED 5 years' experience in a senior architectural role, demonstrating expertise in various technical disciplines such as IAM, networking, application security, and enterprise data. 3 years' enterprise level experience designing and deploying secure cloud solutions that integrate key factors, including identity and access management, network security, data protection, encryption, vulnerability/posture management.
Practical experience and strong understanding of cloud service models that include Iaa S, Paa S, Faa S, Saa S. Extensive knowledge and experience in large enterprise cloud adoption, particularly within one or more major cloud service providers such as Azure and GCP. Experience in designing and deploying cloud security standards and patterns to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry frameworks, such as GDPR, PCI, HIPAA, and ISO 27001.
Experience in full-stack cloud automation, development, and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (Ia C). Proven experience designing and implementing cloud strategies, systems, and solutions. Demonstrated ability to work in agile environments focused on fast and continual value delivery. Excellent understanding of the latest cloud architectures, patterns, and related standards. Recommended A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Enterprise level Azure experience including adoption and deployment of Azure Cloud Adoption Framework and Azure Well Architected Framework.
Industry certifications such as CISSP/CCSP. Azure certifications such as Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect or Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert. Experience with other cloud platforms (e. g. AWS, GCP). Familiarity with containerization technologies (e. g. Docker, Kubernetes). Demonstrated ability to manage time and tasks effectively and logically. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills; ability to facilitate complex discussions and bring them to resolution.
