Position Summary: The House Supervisor will oversee clinical operations of the facility by planning, organizing, directing and coordinating nursing units. The House Supervisor will identify opportunities for improvement
in nursing operations consistent with current policies and procedures. The House Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of RNs and CNAs providing clinical expertise to staff as needed, as well as interfacing with physicians.
Clinical management is conducted in collaboration with other health care team members by maintaining cooperative relationships, applying management principles, relating and working effectively with others, and effectively communicating. Essential Functions Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints. Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the
organization. Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements. Effectively and proactively responds to changes in census, staffing and/or acuity. Communicates with appropriate supervisory/managerial staff regarding problems requiring interventions. backsses the quality of patient care delivered and coordinates patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments. May provide patient care when necessary. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Collaborates with Department Directors, hospital staff, case management and physician to determine, reduce and eliminate barriers within the system which may impede patient flow.
Monitors bed availability in all levels of care as necessary to meet changing patient placement needs. Investigates complaints of patients, relatives, physicians, personnel and visitors. Take necessary steps toward resolution of complaints. Assists in identifying, coordinating and conducting education, training and in-servicing programs for patients and staff. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Employee supervises others. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Education Associate's degree required Bachelor's degree preferred Licenses/Certifications BLS required ACLS required within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position. PALS required within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position. NIH Stroke required within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position. NRP required within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position. Licenses: Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license). -Minimum Work Experience 3-5 years Nursing experience required.
1-3 Nursing experience in acute care setting preferred. Leadership experience highly preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses with various
procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information. Drug testing, phlebotomy, and OSHA compliance as assigned by the office.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; charge entry; managing documents and ensuring information is completed and filed appropriately. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up instruments and equipment
according to department protocol; cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
Fulfills organization responsibilities as assigned which may include: respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly. Cross train in order to provide coverage for other employees as needed. Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: High school diploma, some college preferred. MOA diploma preferred. EXPERIENCE: Experience in health care or a practice setting with clinical duties is required. CNA's are encouraged to apply. REQUIREMENTS: Maintains CPR certification. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty. Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families. Skill in performing tasks appropriately. Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing informationwith patients and families.
Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Ability to project a pleasant and professional image. Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks. Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Well-lighted, well ventilated, adequate space. Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to clinic setting. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc.
